Aside from the top platforms, Twitter, Facebook, Blogs, Linked-In, etc. what other Social Media platforms, or related do you like to use?
I am working on some documentation and I want to include some other platforms that I might not use well, or often. I would like to be able to share their function and use with others, so if there is one in particular, or more, I would love it if you would take a few minutes and post a comment and tell me the platform, the URL and why/how you use it. And extra points for creativity! So I can think of quickly – tumblr, flickr, buzz, and so on.
If you are in Real Estate this is obviously of special interest to me.
Thanks for sharing and helping!

So, beyond Facebook, Twitter, Word Press, Vimeo/Youtube and geo location stuff, I also use Tumblr http://ajleon.tumblr.com , basically as an artistic outlet. It’s basically the world from the perspective of my camera phone and I’ve been doing it since Tumblr launched. Believe it or not, it has served as a useful business tool as well because by the time I meet a client face to face, they feel like they know me, like they’ve been with me. Also, we have clients in the UK, having a simple photo blog that they can follow makes us feel “closer”. I’m also about to start using Audioboo for quick audio podcasts I want to share on the go. 🙂

I’m giving WAYN (where are You Now) another try! My experience with every sm platform that I’ve used/using now, is that I’ll sign up for it and start using it months later or give it a second chance many months later…I’ll keep you posted on this one!

For location I like Foursquare and Gowalla. For Sharing Hot Potato was great but that’s bow dead in post-facebook buy. Posterous indexes well in search engines. It’s really more about what you are trying to accomplish. Afterall, as annoying g as it is-Farmville is really a social networking game.

Now that I think about it, I still have a photobucket account wandering about on the internet somewhere.
To compliment foursquare, I also use Kickball, or at least I will intend to a lot more. Through kickball I can add photos to “venues” for foursquare and hopefully unlock the photog badge. Im 33% there. I added a photo to my CAP Squadron location
I guess you can add my sorta newly minted wordpress blog in there too.
Not sure if this counts but because I’ve kinda become addicted to “location sharing”, my twitter app of choice is Echofon because it pinpoints your location on earth “when enabled” to within a few hundred feet.

I think one tool or site worth mentioning is http://Gist.com which is great at keeping tabs on all your contacts and social network updates.
One other tool that’s pretty useful is http://PixelPipe.com it’s great for publishing/distributing all types of media content. There’s app even for the iPhone! 🙂
I know not social networks but these are some tools worth mentioning, I think.
Great stuff Maya! Glad to follow you on Twitter…
